History
FestiBlues' first show was held in Raimbault Park in Montreal, in August of 1998. Over two thousand people attended the nine performances which made this event an unexpected success. Our committee therefore decided to host another show in 1999 through a nonprofit organization. In this second edition, FestiBlues welcomed five thousand spectators and proposed new shows.  In 2000, twelve shows drew nearly eight thousand spectators.

After three successful editions, the organization's aim was to increase the scope of this cultural event by moving the show to Ahuntsic Park, an ideal location for hosting a major event due to its natural amphitheater. As a result, FestiBlues' attendance grows each year, attracting thousands of spectators by offering more than forty shows in 2003 and 2004.   FestiBlues ranks among the major cultural events of the north island of Montreal in no small part because of its pairing with the Blues sur Seine festival in France

FestiBlues celebrated its 10th anniversary in August 2007 with new creative programming, while the 12th edition offered a fifth day of activities. Subsequent editions allow FestiBlues to consolidate its national and international position thanks to the quality of its programming, combining large public performances and traditional blues performers.

For more than 10 years, FestiBlues has partnered with the Blues sur Seine festival in France, allowing numerous exchanges of artists from both countries. For 14 years now, Festiblues has been holding the Concours de la Relève.   Many emerging groups were able to perform on the FestiBlues and Blues sur Seine stages. FestiBlues also benefits from an international outreach each year with the presence of French journalists.  In 2005 and 2006, TV5 Americas broadcasted our Le Blues des Braves  and Planète Blues  shows.

The 15th edition of FestiBlues in 2012 was marked by difficult weather conditions despite a very good programming. To overcome this exceptional situation, the FestiBlues organized in November a benefit concert which has been a great success and helped to ensure the presentation of quality concerts the following year.

For the 16th edition of FestiBlues in 2013, the sun and heat this time were at the rendez-vous. It’s in the beauty of an Ahuntsic Park illuminated by beautiful summer nights that festivalgoers  sang and danced to the rhythm of blues with a programming rich in surprises. Moreover, it is in this 16th edition that many beautiful projects have materialized, with the arrival of Blues Poetry where David Goudreault has transformed poems of Louis Geoffroy into music and slam, as well as the arrival of Jeunes en blues that allowed young people, families and cultural communities in the borough of Ahuntsic-Catierville to be initiated to blues.

For its 17th edition, the festival continued its involvement with youths by initiating a new partnership with the Sophie-Barat school. Following 4 slam workshops given by David Goudreault about orality art, some students had the chance to present a slam with the poet on the FestiBlues’ stage through the Slam Blues event. Thousands of people came to applaud the artists of the 2014 lineup. 80% of the 4 day festival and forty shows were blues.
